Our sweat lodge is finished!

We made our own sauna/sweatlodge for around 100$ at home in our garden.

We used a portable tent stove, old blankets, a 10x6m plastic sheet from the hardware store, some screws and nails, a stapler, strong tape, an old disc from a wall shelf, a sheet of metal with a hole cut in it using an angle grinder, a stronger spring we found in the barn, and lots thin tree trunks.

In the winter with an outside temperature of -3 to -13 degrees Celsius, we can heat the sauna inside to a temperatur between 40-50 degrees. In summer, it will probably be possible to get it even much hotter. Combined with steam and essential oils, this creates a perfect steam sauna.

We are really happy to have our own sauna now. Sauna sessions can help cleanse our body and soul, and eliminate toxins. Our European ancestors already used the sauna for various purposes, including rituals, childbirth, drying meat/herbs or simply for healing. It is also a great way to come together with friends to have deep conversations without smartphone and all the modern stuff.

See here the YouTube video about the building process:

In the future we want to build an even bigger sauna next to the bathhouse.
